Fresno Autorama

Here are the pictures from the Fresno Autorama. This is an invitational only show and is regarded as the best of the best in the country. I was fortunate and privileged enough to be invited this year. I was astounded at the number and the quality of all the cars that were there. I braved a blizzard and some really foul weather driving my Candy Apple ‘36 Ford Cabriolet the 250 miles to Fresno. I was one of the very few that drove my car to the show. Most were trailered. (I was wishing I had done so too!)
Here is a shot of the snow covered Grapevine as I approached it. Looks pretty ominous doesn’t it.

The car got so filthy I had to impose on a friend who lived in Fresno to literally wash the car in his yard to get the mud off the car before going on to the Convention Center. Other owners I spoke with thought I was crazy to drive the car to the show at all, let alone in that weather. It was not by choice. The sun was shining when I left, but it turned vicious going over the Grapevine. The snow was the worst part. I HAD NO WINDSHIELD WIPERS! I had covered all other contigencies but that.

Rainex doesn’t do diddley in snow. I wound up using my trusty California Car Duster as a windhield wiper to clear the snow off the windshield while driving.
I almost turned back several times, but determind to get there, I forged on ahead dodging the slush and mud being thrown up by the big rigs passing me. It turned to rain in Bakersfield so I kept going on to Fresno.

Anyway after hearing my tale of woe, here are the pics. It turned out to be one of the best shows I have ever attended. It was perfectly organized and even the cars parking places were color coordinated with their neighbors to avoid clashing colors with the car next to you.
