Well guess what! The reason you haven’t heard from me in several weeks. I’ve been up to my eyeballs in my new project. Yeah, I did it. I got my dream project. A ‘36 Ford Cabriolet Convertible. I figured what the heck, you only live once. Anyway I also came up with the brainstorm that the construction of it would be a great addition to my site. So here are the pictures of where I am at so far.

The chassis is a stock boxed frame with independent Mustang II front end. The car is planned as a chopped custom rod, complete with whitewalls, steel wheels, fender skirts and rear deck mounted spare wheel.

I opted to go with Air Bags all the way around for that “Real Slammed” stance”. Front end is TCI Airbag retrofit setup with 2” dropped spindles, 11” brakes and polished stainless tubular upper and lower A-arms I also opted for power steering rack. Tires and wheels are just some spare rollers I had.

Rather then go with the standard 4 link and panhard bar setup, I chose to go with a Triangulated 4 bar setup in the rear from Air Technologies. It’s clean, leaves the rear wide open and eliminates the panhard bar which can cause interference problems. As you can see the air bags are mounted in front of the rear end housing leaving even more room.

You can see the vast amount of extra room this installation leaves for the gas tank, exhaust, or any external air tank and compressor installations. I going to install them inside behind the seat as there is all kinds of room there also.
