I found these old pictures of a ‘49 Ford Convertible which I customized in 1955. (I was 19 years old.) A lot of work went into it. Body was sectioned two
inches, teardrop rear fender openings, real Desoto bumpers, real Appleton spotlights, finned rear fenders, hand made tunnelled tailights with 56 Chevy tailight lenses and side trim mouldings. (I was working for a Chevy dealer
as a body man at the time so I used what was cheap or free!)
I never finished the car as it had a catastrophic engine failure. (I blew up the flathead motor street racing it), and didn’t have the money to fix it. I
wound up selling the car for $50 as my parents wanted me to get it out of the yard. I almost cry when I think about that today. Someone is probably still driving it.
