Well, I finally decided to take some time off from the car and bring you up top date on what’s been happening on my ‘36 Ford Cabriolet. It’s been kind of crazy with the holidays and all. Surprisingly I’ve gotten a lot accomplished since November. Here are the latest pics and updates since then.

I used a Rock Valley stainless 15 gallon gas tank. They also provided the filler neck. Watch out when installing their street rod tank. I found out it doesn’t fit in the stock location after I had it installed and set the body on. They don’t tell you that in the instructions. A quick body removal and redrilling the location holes corrected the problem.

The frame has been painted and all the running gear temporarily installed. Note the sway bar I installed to minimize body lean when cornering. A close-up picture of installation is on the next page. The drive shaft was made up by Wenco, in Van Nuys, Ca. Wheels, tires and beauty rings, are from Stockton Wheel, in Stockton, Ca. They powder coated ‘em, mounted and balanced them before they were shipped.

Closeup of the transmission and cross member installation. We had a problem as my chassis builder measured from a ‘40 he had in the shop for engine location. The only problem was that it turned out to be 2 inches too far forward. After a frantic phone call, he came to my shop and in a morning he and his helper had the problem corrected. It was easier for him to do it my shop then to drag the chassis back to his. He had to cut a little more of the cross member out then photo shows but after some trimming it went in OK. It’s close but came out fine.
