Ok, here’s one of the problems that caused the delay in building. After carefully installing the TCI air bag front end I inflated it to about 100 lbs to get it on a jack to raise the car up on stands. Later that day, while in my office I heard a loud bang come from the shop. I knew instantly from the noise what it was. The right front air bag blew out. Here’s the problem the way it happened and the fix.
I was furnished Goodyear bags by TCI for their front end kit. The goodyear bag is held together with a crimping ring sort of like a hose clamp. It blew out right around the ring. It appears that this bag was made for straight up and down applications only. TCI’s front end has a rather steep angle with straight flat mounts which puts a lot of stress on the crimp, as it basically replaces the coil spring. I guess the stress on the clamps proved too much and it blew.

Anyway after some rather heated discussion with I was informed that they had changed to Firestone bags due to other failures. They agreed to replace the bags with Firestones. They are designed with a sturdy one piece base which captures the bag around a curved insert. This is a much stronger construction.
After I received the new bags I discovered the bolt pattern was totally different and wouldn’t work with those shiney new polished stainless A-Arms. Now I was really steaming.
To make a long story short after several more phone calls, they agreed to make me new A-Arms and mounting brackets. Several weeks and several calls later I received the new parts. Alas, as my luck was running they had the same bolt pattern as the old ones.
After another frantic phone call It turned out not as bad as it sounded. Someone had just shipped the wrong ones and my new ones were still there and ready to go. I had them in 2 days.

NOTE: I don’t want this to seem like I’m bagging on TCI, because I’m not. I’ve been in business long enough to know that “S#@T happens”. They did take care of the problem, but I felt this information was worthy of mention. If your considering installing air springs on your car, be careful which bags you use for your application.
